Textbook: Deitel H.M. and Deitel P.J., C++ How to Program, 4th ed., Prentice Hall, 2003.
Course Objectives: To teach students how to program in general and how to program in C++ in particular, with emphasis in hands-on experience of learning various programming tools, such as compiler, linker, and debugger.
General Information and Grading:
This course is designed to help students to learn programming skills that are fundamental to every information engineering student. Although the programming language is chosen to be C++, I will review as much language-independent and C-related topics as possible so that those who fell behind in Programming (I) will have a chance to catch up. Also, I will focus on those features of C++ that most likely will be useful in later courses, especially Data Structures, so that students may take a peek of what will come their way. Furthermore, I will focus of the operational aspect of programming – how to use the tools and how programs are executed – so that students may feel less uneasy when they take Assembly Programming.
Students are required to attend all lectures throughout the semester. Programming assignments will be given every one or two weeks. Please note that these are individual assignments; in other words, each students must complete the assignments on his/her own. Copying someone else’s assignment to pass as your own is an act of cheating and will result in your getting zero on the assignment and/or failing this course. There will be two midterm exams and a final.
